Script on locks
Written characters are common decorations. Some very old padlocks bear the symbols of the emperor at the time when the lock was made and the year of manufacture. However, most of the texts on padlocks today are lyric and poetic. They are usually a wish for good fortune, happiness in the new year, flowers in spring, family fortune, and so on.
How padlocks were used
Padlocks were mainly used on doors, cupboards, caskets and storage chests, etc.
